Description: Lovely vintage Navajo rug from Crystal Trading Post. Purchased in 1967 at the Crownpoint rug auction. The rug has very light wear, no holes or nibbles, no moth damage. There is one mysterious string-like stain that is the same color as the brown in the diamond medallions, but does not appear to be fibrous and does not appear on the reverse. Two of the original corner tassels are worn/missing. The item was curated rolled, not folded, for many years then placed on the floor for a short time. The weaving was appraised in 2015 by Elmore Art Appraisers with the following note: Object: Navajo Textile, Crystal Date: 1960-70s Materials: handspun wool yarns, all natural colors Dimensions: 55.5” x 30” Condition: Good, usage patina, minor staining; no restoration Description: Banded grey and tan variegated field with rows of straight bands and sets of serrated diamonds brown and black. Average spun yarns woven into even handle. Unknown artist. Value: $350.00
