Eight illustrations including frontispiece. Side and lower edges are age-toned. Boards are faintly scuffed. Upper edge at head of board spine is crimped, lower end at tail has horizontal crease; corners at board are slightly rubbed through. Lower fore-edge corner tips are scuffed with slight rub through on the lower front corner; both lower corners are softened and turned in. Front and back paste-downs and end papers show green-tinted illustration of Vermont landscape where author grew up. Previous owner's name on half-title page. Foxing on verso to half-title page through title page. Age-toning to text pages else internally clean. Text block is sound.
