Description: CLEANING A HALIBUT by acclaimed Alaskan artist Rie Munoz (1921-2015), this cheerful 2004 8.5 x 12.5 limited edition lithograph print is numbered 178/600 and is signed in pencil by the artist. Artist description : "This fisherman has just caught a small 'chicken halibut' 15-20 lbs, which are better tasting than the monster 'barn door' halibut that are 10 times larger. Unlike most fish which have 2 fillets, a halibut has 4, 2 on each side. The dog in this painting will surely get some halibut with his dinner as well." Rie Munoz was a beloved Alaskan artist and is famous for her vibrant, unpretentious watercolors of scenes of daily Alaskan life, and Native legends. Born in California, she moved to Southeast Alaska in 1951. She fell in love with the state and traveled widely to capture many of the images which appeared in her works. Her paintings, prints and reproductions are carried by galleries throughout the U.S. and Canada and are widely collected. Her works are still available from her Juneau gallery https://www.riemunoz.com as well as several others, or from estate and other private sales.
