Description: Rare to see one of these in such great condition. This was from a limited run of SG Specials from 1998-2000 and was the only finish of the three to get an ebony fretboard and gold hardware, including a real (posts drilled into body) ABR-1 bridge. Though these didn't come with cases this listing includes a TKL Made in Canada hardshell SG case in great condition. A lot of these have yellowing either all over or on the neck and arm rest area but this one's finish is as clean as new. On close inspection I see some small witness lines where the fretboard meets the mahogany neck on the treble-side but it doesn't make a 'shelf' and isn't on the more-visible bass side (see pics). There is also a bit of hand-rest wear to the gold plating to the bass-side of the bridge. No fret wear and they're polished shiny. The only mods I've made is putting just the right amount of foam under each pickup so that they tilt parallel to the strings and the original tailpiece studs have some wear so I replaced them with new gold-plated brass equivalents. Everything else is original and the original tailpiece studs are included. The pickups measure 7.6k for the 490R neck and 7.9k for the 490T bridge. The neck is a bit thicker than the slim taper that the small-guard 61 SGs have, measuring .84" at first fret and .97" at 12th. Weighs in at 6.8 lbs. Clean and polished with no checking and no odors. This was a very well kept guitar. The last two pics are Gibson promo pics of this series.
