Description: DO NOT KNOW IF THIS IS AN , original hand colored framed lithograph from the 1800’s. “James and Sarah Tuttle” Inscribed in : "THOMAS YORK Aged 50. MARCH 29TH 1837"; HARRIET YORK AGE 26 AUGUST 23 1837 Picture shows two individuals ,a married couple ( the artist,POSSIBLY Joseph H. Davis is known for painting married couples). The man, dressed in his Sunday black suit, is reading newspaper with his top hat perched ceremoniously in the middle of the table. HARRIET YORK is holding her small baby exhibiting her piety in looking directly at the man across the rather sophisticated table. A small cat sits on an oriental designed rug beneath the table. The log sawmill picture is framed in laurel leaf directly above the table, suggesting their business and prosperity. Wonderful composition. The wooden frame is age-appropriate folk art, primitive or colonial style. Some water damage seen on back but doesn’t seem to affect Lipman’s, the art shop in Silver Spring Maryland, (note back) is no longer in existence and has been gone for some time. The building still stands, however. The lithograph was most likely re-matted years ago. Size 9 X 12 Size of framed : 15.5 x 12
