Description: Up for sale is my baby: the hand-built, strawberry red Schwinn Professional Road Racing Paramount P-13 10-speed that I ordered from Spokane’s Garland Cycle in 1979.Ridden less than 5 miles since it was overhauled, and it runs like a Rolex. The bike came to me direct from Chicago Schwinn, the last year these famous bicycles were made at the Schwinn factory. For aesthetic considerations, I pulled off the original Campy side-pull brakes with exposed looping cables. I replaced them with later-generation Campy side-pulls that hide the cables and, in my opinion, make the Paramount appear more streamlined. I still have the original brakes, plus the Italian-made Campy tools that came with the bike. The toe-clips have been modernized. Other than that and brand new tires, the Paramount is the way it’s always been, including the original love-it-or-hate-it leather Brooks saddle.
