Description: The State of Pennsylvania called up the Militia when Lee's Army defeated the Union Army at 2nd Manassas, to prepare for the Invasion of Maryland and Pennsylvania, September, 1862. General John Reynolds took command of the Militia forces, concentrated at Chambersburg and Hagerstown. Private Barney Neibell enlisted September 12, 1862 with the 13th Pennsylvania Emergency Militia, ready to fight the rebels. Lee's Army was fought to a standstill at Antietam Creek, Maryland and the rebels withdrew. Private Neibell and his regiment were mustered out September 26.An original Civil War Service Muster issued at Harrisburg, August 13, 1894 certifying that Private Neibell as mustered into I Company, 13th Pennsylvania Regiment Volunteer Militia , September 15, 1862 and enrolled in the Service of the United States , and honorably Discharged Sept 25, 1862. The handsome Muster has an illus of the Pennsylvania seal, and an applied Gold Adjutant General seal, and is signed by the State AG, WW Greenland (General Walter W Greenland of Huntingdon County enlisted August 1862 as Sergeant, 125th Pennsylvania Infantry, and fought at the Battle of Antietam.
