Description: Early Pearlware Childs Miniature 3pc Soup Tureen PRIMROSE FLORAL CHINTZ Charles Meigh Staffordshire England c.1835 This is a rare childs miniature toy dinner set soup tureen with lid and tray c. 1835, originally part of a complete children's or dollhouse toy dinner service. The three piece set measures stands 5 inches tall and measures 6 inches across the widest part of the middle, decorated with an overall floral chintz medley of tiny primrose vine and fuchsia flowers transfer printed in green with wisps of blue and red, a perfect colorful and festive piece. The pattern has been attributed to Charles Meigh in the Staffordshire district in England in the early to mid-19th century. The pattern is especially earthy and beautiful in this forest green. The decoration was elaborately designed with impeccable detailing for the diminutive size of the piece. The pattern name is unknown. The set is unmarked except for impressed numerals 2 and 4. The set is in very good condition with a small old shallow rim graze on the top edge, an other old chip on the inside of the lid and no other chips, cracks or repairs. Stilt marks, glaze crazing and other minor manufacturing flaws, original to the making, adding to the authenticity and not detracting from the beauty. The design is elegant and striking and will make a wonderful display and a rare addition to any collection of childrens or miniature dolls elegant table wares, pocket sized works of art.
