The zipper that goes around the large case had the zipper tab broke off, but it still zips up. It also has a velcro fastener which, when used, makes the zipper unnecessary. There is a zippered compartment on the front which contains a First Lesson Book. This book is a 32 page book for beginners. This violin would be perfect for a music student who needs a violin but on a budget. I can't play the violin, but I have let a few play it that know how to play it and it sounded great.
