Description: CDV of Confederate Civil War Gen. Wade Hampton III. Hampton, who was wounded at Gettysburg in 1863, commanded the Army of Northern Virginia's cavalry troops after JEB Stuart died in 1864. Hampton, who became an opponent of Reconstruction, was a large plantation and slave owner from South Carolina who also served as governor of his home state as well as a U.S. senator.
