Liebert, Paris Title: Lucien-Anatole Prevost-Paradol, Figaro-Album Date: c1860s Medium: Carte de Visite, Albumen Print on front printed mount Size of Image: na Size of Mount: 4 1/8 x 2 ½ inches Condition: Medium tonality, clean with some light spotting, mount lightly rubbed at corners, several light spots on mount and a larger discolored area. Other: Lucien Anatole Prevost Paradol (1829-1870). Journalist and literary critic, elected to Academie Francaise in 1865 which was contested due to his young age and limited works. He was a supporter of “liberalism” and was jailed for a short period for his views. Appointed minister to the United States in 1870 and committed suicide with his revolver shortly thereafter upon learning of the war declared between Prussia and France. Send questions.
