Description: CDV - Archbishop James Frederic Wood, Philadelphia (1813-1883) This CDV came from the collection of General Robert Patterson family album (1792 - 1881). Though raised Unitarian in Cincinnati, Wood's friendship with an archbishop lead him to become a Catholic at age 23. He moved up through the church in various capacities as a Bishop. Due to his financial acumen, he was able to develop new parishes and lead about 200,000 to become members of the church. He was instrumental in creating the Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary which opened in 1871. An informational sheet will be included with the CDV.
