Description: Clemen and Jung cavalry sword with scabbard model 1840. This sabre was made by Clemen & Jung of Solingen; it has a stamp "C&J" without the box like in US versions. The C&J in a box is indicative of importation specifically for use in the Civil War.The sword and scabbard are in good condition and do not have any more stamps. On the scabbard there are 3 dents. The hilt is good as are the original leather grip and twisted grip wire.The handle is 5.5 inches. The blade is 36 inches. The sword is 43 inches.Clemen & Jung of Solingen, Prussia. The company CLEMEN & JUNG was founded and registered with the Chamber of Commerce in 1860. Up until the destruction of the factory in 1944 during World War II.
