Our soil is made up of equal parts Akadama, Hyuga Pumice, Red Lava, and Black Lava. At the time of the photos, this tree was 9.5 inches tall from the soil to the highest part of the foliage. Its trunk is around three quarters of an inch thick with the base measuring approximately 2.5 inches. The pot is six and a half inches in width. This blue glazed pot was made in Yixing, China and is excellent quality. It is chopped on the bottom. Caring for your Bonsai Tree Keep the soil moist, but not overly wet. It is important to not let the soil dry completely as it may cause the plant to die. Use a balanced slow-release fertilizer that contains all necessary nutrients for your bonsai. We use a slow release granular fertilizer at our nursery. It's best to grow your bonsai outdoors. Regular trimming and pruning help to maintain the shape and size of the tree. Do not wait for the plant to grow too long, instead trim it regularly to avoid shocks to your plant's growth.
