Signed "Warren Tufts" in final panel. -Description: This is the original artwork for the August 25 1950 daily comic strip CASEY RUGGLES, written and drawn by Warren Tufts (1925-1982). This daily is from the "The Whisperer" story arc. The Whisperer was, in effect, a serial killer, terrorizing a lumber town to try and drive folks out. This daily features images of Casey and young Danny discovering the latest victim of The Whisperer. Casey, afflicted with a cough and laryngitis, has not much of a voice, and is soon to be accused of being the killer. Gorgeously rendered inks, strategically placed blacks and deft staging combine to fashion a beautiful comic strip by an American master of the art form. Titled "Investigation" in blue pencil on the reverse. The strip is reprinted at page 157 of Casey Ruggles: A Saga of the West Volume One (Classic Comics Press, 2018). RRA Condition: -The art is in excellent overall condition. Minor to moderate age/handling wear. Pencil notes to reverse.
