Description: Inuit Stone Seal Carving Description and Item Information Up for sale is this carved seal sculpture or statue. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This seal is carved from a dark green stone, possibly serpentine. It measures approximately 4 1/2 inches by 2 inches by 1 5/8 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 8.2 ounces. This would be a fine addition to a collection of Inuit art. Identification This estate item has incised markings beneath. The first line is faintly scratched into the stone; the second and third lines are more deeply incised. The first line includes some numbers and, "NANOOK." The second and third lines say, "JOSEPHEE E5253." There seem to be a few different Inuit carvers named Josephee, and I'm not sure which one made this piece. The age of this item is not known; it is from the estate of an antiques dealer who owned things of all ages. Condition The carving has light wear, but no chips or cracks. Please review the photos, and ask any necessary questions prior to bidding or buying. Terms of Sale 1. Sales Tax Before merchandise is shipped to a California address (or picked up or delivered within California), sales tax will be collected, unless the buyer provides a properly completed and valid California resale certificate form by mail (or in person, in the case of pick up or delivery). No exceptions. Sales tax may apply for merchandise shipped outside of California. 2. Payments The buyer must prepay before merchandise is released. The correct shipping address must be included with payment. Contact the seller in advance of bidding or buying to find out about accepted payment methods for local pick ups or deliveries. Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. 3. Shipping and Handling Good packaging is included; double-boxing is not included. Framed art will not be shipped unframed. The seller typically ships on Mondays and Thursdays, unless a holiday or special circumstance precludes it. The merchandise will be shipped on the seller's next shipping day after payment clears. The seller is not responsible for the transit time once the merchandise has been accepted by the shipping carrier. Economy shipping within the U.S. includes delivery to a physical address via an economy shipping method of the seller's choice. At the discretion of the seller, a faster shipping method may be utilized at no additional cost to the buyer. If the buyer prefers a different shipping method other than that chosen by the seller, or if delivery is to a post office box, additional shipping and handling costs may be required. For domestic parcels, a signature will be required for delivery if the total payment is $750 or greater; at the discretion of the seller, a signature may be required for delivery if the total payment is less than $750. If international shipping is available, this will be indicated on the "Shipping and Payments" tab. International shipping is not free for the buyer and shipping costs are not negotiable. Shipping quotes must be requested prior to all international bidding or buying. The seller will determine the international shipping method(s). Some merchandise may be too large to be shipped to certain countries. Some countries have restrictions or prohibitions on certain classes of merchandise. The seller will only use legal shipping methods. Customs forms will not be falsified. International buyers, please note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when the item is picked up; do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. The seller does not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as gifts. U.S. and international government regulations prohibit such behavior. 4.
