Description: This vintage real photo postcard features Italian actress, Carmen Boni (1901-1963). She was born in Rome. Her father was a military Colonel. Her brother became a cinematographer, Mario Bonicatti. Carmen made her film debut in 1919, At first, she mostly played young naive girls in Italian comedies and romances. She had talent and it wasn't long before she began playing leading roles. In 1924, she married the director of one of her films, Augusto Genina. She appeared in many of his films during their marriage. After appearing in "The Last Lord" (1926) she was noticed internationally. She began appearing in German films. With the introduction of talkies, Boni was no longer appropriate for German films due to German being her second language. She returned to Italy to appear in Italian Talkies. Boni and Genina divorced in 1934 and Boni attempted suicide shortly after. She remarried in 1936 to a French actor and songwriter. Tragically, she was killed in an auto accident in 1963. The IMDb credits Boni with 42 film credits between 1919 and 1948. This photo postcard shows Boni in a somewhat risque pose and dress. She has a wonderful smile. This photograph was taken by Eduard Oertel. He operated in Berlin, Germany. The card was published by Ross Verlag as part of a series (No.3034/1)8.
