Candlebox basically is a conventional heavy metal band that has adopted the attitudes and musical styles of grunge without refashioning it into anything interesting, or more importantly, anything catchy. Throughout Lucy, there isn't any music that has any hooks or melody. It's clear that the band has strived to make their songs catchy, which makes the lack of hooks even more embarrassing.
