Description: Maker: This lovely plate is by the legendary English firm Crescent China, the company formed by George Jones in Stoke-on-Trent in 1861 as George Jones & Co. In 1873, his sons joined the business and it was renamed George Jones & Sons. The Crescent China trademark was registered the same year and in 1907, the company was formally renamed Crescent China. It went out of business in 1957. Design: The beautiful pattern - number 6266 - features delightful hand painted pink flowers and bees against a pure white background of thin and translucent white porcelain. replacements.com calls this pattern "Chrysanthemin Multicolor". Age: On the back is the impressed "GJ & Sons" crescent mark that was in use between 1874 and 1924. A brown handwritten designation "Rd No 826" also appears. That's a very early English china pattern registration number indicating that this pattern was registered in 1884, the year that pattern registration began. Source: the potteries.org. Size: The plate is 8 inches wide and weighs 12.5 ounces. Condition: It's in excellent condition for its age with no nicks, chips, cracks, stains, discoloration, repairs or crazing. There is wear to the gold edge, particularly in one section, and a few faint utensil marks and tiny dark marks that can be seen in bright light. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
