It is an outstanding, period cabinet card photograph, which measures approx. 5-5/8" X 3-3/4" (14.5 cm X 9.8 cm.) and is mounted on its original dark grey Card Mount , which measures approx. 6-5/8" X 4-1/4" (16.5 cm X 11 cm.) At the bottom of the card gives the photographers information: C. W. Lucas, Exchange Square, Brodhead, Wisconsin. This fascinating photograph shows the husband seated and his wife standing next to him … with a table in between. No PDA's please. The wife wears a typical short-waisted, fitted, basque bodice, with a starched lace collar, and decoration on the front. The Husband wears the open style coat, a pocket watch, and a "mean" mustache. We all know that the exposure time in the early days of photography was very long, so the subjects of the photo had to hold very still. But in my humble opinion, people now-a-days have been having their photos taken since the day they were born. They have lot of photos taken of them when they are children, and most of them love to "ham it up." It was a special occasion when people had their photo taken in the early days of photography, so often they look quite awkward and stern. This fascinating "Cabinet Card Antique Wedding Photo" is in excellent condition. No fading at all, though a slight browning. The details are very clear and crisp. There is no surface damage, edge or corner wear to speak of. The back is a different story. There it appears that some spilled ink. Fortunately for us, it is not the important side.
