C. F. Monroe WAVE CREST 5.5" Wavecrest Ferner / Jardiniere with Liner

Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a lovely Wave Crest opal glass ferner/jardinière in an unusual smaller size with brass top rim and lift out brass drainer/liner. Most of the liners have been separated from the ferner over the years and it's becoming harder to find them complete and original. The opal glass body has a molded design around the lower body with a vertical molded drapery design with hand painted floral design on the front and back. Glass is marked on the bottom with the C. F. Monroe Wave Crest trademark stamp. This type ferner is pictured on pages 24 & 25 of the book "Wave Crest, The Glass of C. F. Monroe" by Wilfred R. Cohen. Opal Ware glass was at the height of its popularity from 1890 to 1910 and much of the opal glass known as Wave Crest was produced by the Mount Washington Glass Company and purchased by the C. F. Monroe Co. as undecorated glass blanks to be decorated by the artists employed there. Measures 3 1/8" high with the top measuring 4 1/2" with an overall width of 5 1/2". Weighs 1,3 pounds. This nice ferner is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws to the glass. The brass collar has an antiqued finish with nice patina although the lift out liner has minor discoloration and corrosion commensurate with age. Overall, the ferner is considered to be in very good condition reflecting only minor signs of normal wear.
