Description: This circa 1905 'good for 25¢' coal scrip token is from the Powell Brothers general store in Praise, Kentucky. [NOTE: In 1912, the name of the town officially was changed from Praise to Elkhorn City, seeming to date this token to earlier than 1912.] The obverse has the words POWELL BROTHERS GENERAL MERCHANDISE PRAISE, KY., and the reverse has the words GOOD FOR 25¢ IN MERCHANDISE. The diameter is approximately 26 mm (1"), and the composition is brass. [4724] This token is in very fine condition, with fairly light wear, toning, and soiling.
