c 1896 Wileman & Co (Foley) daisy shaped trio #3 "Fern" pattern #5894, emerald

Description: c 1896 Wileman and Co (Foley China) daisy shaped, fluted trio in the Fern design, emerald green, pattern #5894. Produced at the Fenton works in Staffordshire prior to change of ownership to Foley, then Shelley. The reverse of all pieces bear the Wileman & Co and Foley China England crown back stamp in green; printed registration number 276279; hand drawn pattern number and painter's marks. The pale emerald green on a crisp white background with gilded banding and the fluted design is wonderfully tactile. Dimensions: Cup stands 7 cm tall and spans 9.5 cm from to outer edge of handle to outer edge of cup.Saucer is 14 cm diameter.Side plate is 18 cm diameter. In wonderfully original antique condition, there are no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify, the colours and gilding remain bright. Random tiny inclusions, scorch marks and crazing in the glaze from the kiln process; and paint smudges and colour variations, are very typical of china produced in this period using almost entirely manual processes, and should be expected.
