Description: c 1885 Wileman & Co Foley China hand painted, round fluted serving plate in the striking "Japan blue and red" pattern #9066, produced at the Foley China pottery works in Fenton, Staffordshire. This exquisitely decorated piece bears highly detailed floral motifs set in 8 windows, with very fine cross hatching. Using the traditional Imari palette of cobalt blue, rust and lavish gilding on a lustrous, bright white background. Dimensions: 23.5 cm diameter. In exquisite original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify.There are a few VERY FINE utensil marks, no other sign of use or wear.The colors and gilding remain pristine and bright. There are a couple of tiny kiln firing spots but absolutely no issues of note. The underside bears the green Wileman & Co, The Foley China and crown, England back stamp; registration number 3931 which was registered in 1884; and hand painted pattern number. I have listed separately 8 matching salad plates and 2 serving plates in this identical pattern. Ref 1325
