Description: C. 17th/18th century, cavalry Walloon broadsword, maker marked blade. These swords originally derive from northern Europe but saw extensive use throughout the European wars and were also used in the colonies and during the American revolution. Similar example is pictured in George Newman’s book- sword blades of the American revolution on page 73. A handsome example that displays early maker stamp which appears to be a crown with initials. This sword shows its age with largely uncleaned rust patina. Note guard side plates are missing as removed during the swords working lifetime. Steel grip has been professionally covered with wire ray skin, see photos for complete details. Sale final. No international sales. Shipping via USPS priority mail.
