Description: BYBEE POTTERY KENTUCKY - BLUE ELONGATED OVAL BOWL - TAB HANDLES Bybee Pottery was founded by Walter Cornelison in 1809. They started out as Cornelison Pottery but was renamed after Bybee, the town in Kentucky where the pottery was located. It is the second oldest pottery in the United States and has stayed in the ownership of the Cornelison family. The pottery has always been made in a rudimentary log cabin, using local clay. This oval bowl, in an overall dark blue glaze color, features large tab handles at both ends.Obvious "B B" inscribed at the bottom signifies original Bybee production. Measures 10 & 3/8ths inches long, through the handles. 5 inches wide. 1 & 1/2 inches high.Weight: 1 pound 4 ounces. Typical "bubbles" and production faults but NO chips or cracks.
