This shrub is recognized for its vivid flame red foliage, making it an excellent specimen for any landscape in autumn. During the summer months, the foliage is a soft, cooling blue-green shade prior to the withdrawal of their green pigment to reveal its burning crimson red shade underneath. Has arching stems decorated with clusters of finely pointed appealingly drooping leaves. When young, this shrub appears to have a ridged appearance due to its drooping leaves, giving the nickname: "Winged Euonymous", Tiny, inconspicuous flowers emerge in late spring to early summer, later becoming small drupes enjoyed by birds and wildlife.
