Räsänen, born in the Loimola village of Karelia, Laatka , studied at the School of the Finnish Academy of Arts from 1946 to 1950. Räsänen's most famous works are the Angel (1960) in Lappeenranta , the doors and reliefs of the Espoo Council, Veikkaus' 50th anniversary Monument to the Heroes Remaining in Karelia.
