Description: Disclaimer especially for the crooks: you can NOT claim “poor machining”, “doesn’t work”, “no or not clear instructions” . Our feedback is a testament that this is a tool that really works good, our description never mentions the Looks of the Tool. If you are looking for looks,- go somewhere else. Bmw M52 M54 M56 head bolt thread repair tool kit with 14 pc, super strong, M14x2 outside thread inserts. This tool is designed to allow anyone, even those, who had never cut any threads, to do this job fast, with Zero mistakes or cross threads. (P.S. You still need to use your Brains). We designed it with m14x2 insert for these two reasons : 1. It is the firse size that is strong enough to do the job and hold, even on racing engines. We don't believe in removing any more aluminum from the cylinder block than we have to and, thus, weakening it. 2. It still leaves enough material in the block to drill out this insert and install Bigger one, 5/8-11 or m16x1.5, if this m14x2 fails for any reason(we had a customer who broke a tap flush with the surface of the block and we had to design a special tool for him to drill that one out). Very unlikely scenario, however option is there. This tool only requires 1 (one) drill bit , 1(one) tap for cutting M14x2 and 1(one) M10X1.5 tap. No recess tool that is shown on the YouTube video needed. This is the simplest tool for the job if you don't want to be held up by broken tap or insert expander. Important: if you have a previously failed insert in the block- this kit is especially for you. The OD of these inserts is 14mm vs 12mm of the Time-Sert . The drill in this kit will drill out stripped insert from previous repair. The tap will cut oversized thread for the bigger insert. Basically, these Inserts are the size of a Big- Sert(Big-Sert is an up size of Time-Sert), with twice the length and "out of synch" threads. "Out of synch" means that outside and inside threads are a different Pitch, 2mm vs 1.5mm thus preventing the insert "up travel", in case Loctite Thread-Lock refuses to hold, wich is almost impossible anyway. 1. Because of international and FedEx shipping restrictions on fluids we DO NOT include cutting oil or Loctite with the tool. You use ANY oil for cutting and drilling( motor oil, even used, ATF, WD40, Lard(pig fat from your local food market) or Aluma-Tap are best for aluminum, but you are cutting it by hand, so almost anything will work). Set inserts on Loctite 272 (Red). Use Brake Cleaner and compressed air for cleaning before Locktite (the kind that do not leave an oily residue). CarQuest's brand ( used to be Wearever) has good results. Starting fluid without "Upper Cylinder Lubricant" in it will work too. Inserts in this kit are twice as long as Big-Sert( Big-Sert is an oversized Time-Sert). Look at the comparative picture of M14x2 insert VS Big-Sert . Additional inserts will be available at $4.95 each (only to the original buyer or if original buyer resells the tool. We can't make these inserts fast enough to offer to general public). No returns for Any reason, whatsoever. This is Not a rental proposition. If you are not Absolutely sure you can't live without our tool,- do not buy it. You can, if you are not a shop, buy the tool, do the job and resell it. We will sell a set of inserts separately to you or your buyer, to help you recoup some cost of fixing your Bimmer, in these hard times. Watch our video on YouTube to get and idea. Keep in mind that this tool is a lot easier to use than our tool with Time-Sert inserts, shown on the video, because it does not need Recess tool and, most important, Expander tool. New Style inserts do not have "shoulders". Expander tool , which some people did brake, is still used to clean damaged original threads in the block and new inserts. From our experience here, 1 out of 10 will brake the expander tool in the engine block when expanding Time-Sert , but Not this insert. Step 1: Mount the jig plate. Damaged original threads can be “cleaned” with M10x1.5 tap/expander tool prior to mounting the plate. Step 2: Drill to desired depth. Depth is pre-set with collar, mounted on the drill bit, but may be increased by repositioning the stop collar on the drill bit. Two gasket positioner Bushing holes will set deeper, just below the bushing's lower end.The tap will leave marks(cut a little thread) into the Bushing wells walls), but will not change the dimentions. Original bushings are Reused. Step 3: Cut new threads with m14x2 tap and install Insert with included 8mm or 5/16 Allen Socket(included). After all inserts are installed into cylinder block and you are satisfied with the job,- take the inserts out Clean with non-oily brake cleaner or starting fluid Apply Locktite 272(red) and reinstall inserts Run M10x1.5 tap/expander tool on each insert using a Lot of Oil on the tap. Make it completely wet with oil. Done. Remember, unlike the Time-Sert style insert, our inserts can be taken in and out as many times as needed before it is set on Locktite. Make sure you like the performed job before the inserts are locked.
