Bisque is sometimes referred to as ‘pre-firing’ pottery ware before it is fired for glazing. Prior to the bisque fire, the clay is air-dried to get rid of its water content. The unfired pottery goes through the stages of being leather-hard (when there is still a little bit of moisture evident in the clay).The sculpture is in very good condition except for the crown of the woman's head.
