Description: Bernard Rooke was an acclaimed British mid century potter famous for the "brutalist" style he championed. Years ago my girlfriend, a teacher for the USAF based at RAF Woodbridge (near his Swilland mill studio), befriended Bernard and Sue and collected his creations. Eventually I married the woman and fell in love with the pottery....but we were born in the 40's and now it is time to move on. Please consider the small vase pictured. Approximate measurements are: 6 in H x 2.5 in W x 6 in L. I show the vase's asymmetrical opening so it is not confused with a vessel missing its matching stopper. Initials used as signature rather than the standard ROOKE stamped impression. Note: Please check the detail on two photos pictured with coin or flower. One side has possible minor glaze erosion at center and right on raised areas. I do not know if that is a real abrasion defect caused by us or just a quirk of the glaze or firing. Otherwise there are no chips, scratches or defects. It is a simple and beautiful piece. Please contact me if you are an overseas buyer.
