Description: I got tired of hot gluing popsicle sticks into the foundation grooves so I built a mold to make starter strips that simply press into the groove without glue. They have little buttons on the tabs to hold them in place in any 5/32"-3/16" grooved top bar. They are made from food grade HIPS and they come in packs of 50, the cell size is 5.2mm and are non waxed. The original starter strips were molded 4 at a time and became too expensive to produce so we combined them with our wax fasteners, which are molded 16 at a time, to make a multi use starter strip. It was a logical decision especially since they can be used either way and the cost is in between the two separate products. They can be used alone or with natural beeswax foundation that can be attached to the pins molded into the strip. Full sheets of wax foundation can be used, but the most economical way to encourage the bees to draw along the top bar is cut the wax foundation into 5/8" or 3/4" strips then attach half to the top bar with 2 starter strips.
