"The Georgia Peach" starred for the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Athletics. He led Detroit to three consecutive World Series appearances and retired with 4,189 career hits. Cobb was enshrined with the National Baseball Hall of Fame's inaugural class of 1936 after appearing on 222 of a possible 226 ballots.
