Description: 1918 France 5 Francs Banknote Pick Number 72a Beautiful Fine or Better For your World Currency Collection - PCU452 Details Description: A beautiful fine or better banknote from France. This is the 1918 five francs or Cinq Francs. The banknote has a light lilac colored background with the head of a woman wearing a helmet in the top left corner on the front and has the image of a dock worker with a sailing ship on the right of the back. This particular note has the serial number 30523691 and is series Z.1221 and also sports the number 691. It is signed by J. Laferrieri and E. Picard and is dated 16-3-1918. The banknote has a water mark depicting the head of a woman in the white circle at the top right of the front. Just a great find of a rare banknote, which is difficult to find in any condition. Please carefully review the scan presented as it is part and parcel of our description. Date: N. 16-3-1918N. Printer: Bank of France. Size: The banknote measures 5" by 3 1/8". Pick Number: P 72a. Condition: I would grade this banknote as a good fine or better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has one heavily soiled vertical fold in the center and two additional vertical folds as well as a horizontal fold. The bottom left corner is folded but is all there and intact with no real loss but gives the impression of being canted in shape, while the other corners are intact with minimum rounding. The note has a hole within the letter "C" of Cinq on the front. It also has considerable soiling on the back on the half with the dock worker's image. The note also displays quite a bit of foxing in the form of brown spots throughout the front and back. The note has no tears, no splits, and no graffiti. It retains quite a bit of its original crispiness. If it was not for the heavy soiling and the hole in the letter "C" I would have graded it extremely fine or better. Please carefully review the scan presented for additional condition information. Our Guarantee Please view our 100% positive feedback and bid with confidence.
