Description: Beautiful 4/4 Copy Nicolaus Bergonzi Cremonenfis faciebat Anno 1760 Violin.It measures 23 inches long. It has a Teller made in Germany bridge. It comes with an old bow which needs restringing. The violin has a fine red varnish. The sound post is intact. The tailpiece has 3 regular tuners and one fine tuner. There are a few light surface scratches but none deep passed the varnish. There are no cracks in the neck . The back is composed of two parts of flamed maple. The spruce top shows no cracks or breaks from lack of humidity. The pegs, peg box and scroll are in good shape. The scroll has a few scrapes but it is intact. The purfling is painted. The fingerboard appears to be ebony with a nice gloss to it . If you look closely on the last photo there is a small separation at the base, right of the end pin, where the rib meets the back plate. This is a separation that most likely took place from too much pressure on the opposite side where the chin rest clamps down creating pressure. This could easily be remedied with wood glue and a clamp. This is not a break, only a separation. Otherwise, to the best of my abilities, the violin is in excellent shape. Honesty is the best policy,. I reveal all the facts. The red varnish and the flamed maple are the real eye catching qualities of this piece.
