Description: This is a 1988 hardback book, A Free and Ordereed Space, signed in green ink fountain pen by the late A. Bartlett (Bart) Giamatti, the former President of Yale University who was elected Commissioner of Major League Baseball in 1989 and sadly passed away 5 months later while still serving as Commissioner. He was the Commissioner who in 1989 entered into an agreement with Pete Rose to be on the permanently ineligible list for Hall of Fame consideration as a result of gambling on baseball. This book is dedicated to Larry (who according to a note inside the book is TV personality Larry King, a huge baseball fan) with a touching and personal inscription in Giamatti's hand and apparently this was Larry King's personal copy, so this book is unique. This Edition is the 1988 printing and Bart giamatti passed away in September 1989, so there was a relatively small window for him to sign this version before his death. The book shows only minor wear and is in fantastic shape. The dust jacket is clean and intact. There is no marking in the book that I could find other than the aforementioned note. The autograph is actually signed in the book and not on a bookplate or sticker. I guarantee the autograph will pass any reputable third party authenticator. The only flaw I could find is a few spots on the top edge of the book. It does not distract from the appearance of the volume.
