Search titles and descriptions. AT LAST, WORD WAS GIVEN THAT THE ROYAL FAMILY WAS COMING TO THE CIRCUS The incorrigible clown, Bob Sherwood, had listened to all the rules – do not approach the Royal Box closer than twenty feet – salute the royal party – but he was a clown – one of the greatest – so he put on his greatest act. Walking over to within ten feet of the box, he grotesquely pantomimed the cleaning of his hands by vigorously rubbing them on his costume. Then, putting on his most engaging grin, walked right up to the box and proffered his hand to the QUEEN OF ENGLAND. BARNUM NEARLY PASSED OUT! Well, you won’t ever read a circus story so great. Filled with hi-jinks: here’s one - seems that the Prince of Wales was an acquaintance of star bronco-buster Bucky Taylor. During their conversations, the Prince expressed a desire to ride one of the wild ones so old Bucky had it framed up to take a led bronco and let the chips (Prince) fall where they may. Trouble was, the equestrian director got wind of the scheme and learned that Bucky had picked for the Prince’s ride: OLD STEAMBOAT “the meanest piece of horse flesh ever foaled.” This is story as originally written. There were many great circus stories published – the little known ones show up on Ebay every day but the rarer ones never make it. Collectors treasure them and very hard to find. I hunt them out cause really the better, untold and rarer stories were published in the rest.
