Hall spent the summer of 1820 traversing 212 miles of the Hudson River's 315-mile course. 20 plates were engraved as aquatints by master printer John Hill and published between 1821 and 1825 by Henry Megarey in New York. Albert Baker, who moved into the area from New York City in 1768, built a saw mill and a dam on the Hudson River. The village of Baker's Falls became Hudson Falls in 1910.
