Description: A very nice set and HEAVY! (a good thing). The 4-6-0 steam-era locomotive weighs in at 4-2/3 pounds, has a 1.75" wheelbase (G scale), metal wheels, forward and reverse motion, forward light, chugging sounds (speaker is in the coal tender), realistic smoke (NOT TESTED - SEE NOTE, BELOW) and engineer figure. This is an electric (AC) train so metal railed tracks are required (no tracks are included). It easily hauls it matching coal tender and caboose. The sound is optional (please see my comment below) and is powered by a 9v battery (not included) in the coal tender.The set is in very good condition with all ladders, piping, handrails, boiler bell, brake wheels, smokestack and couplers are intact. There are a few very minor signs of use like light scratches. The only flaw I detected was a repaired driver pin on the left side of the main wheel set (see picture). It does not impact the operation at all. One of the drive rods is also missing. Again, it does not impact the operation of the engine at all.The chugging sounds are optional (the on/off switch is located on the firebox in the back of the locomotive). The sound is generated by the motion of the wheels. The faster the train goes, the more realistic it sounds. Very slow speeds make the sound a bit rough (my opinion).NOTE: I opted not to test the smoke unit since the reservoir was clean and I did not want to add smoke oil to it (you have to add enough oil so that the level is above the electric diodes and that would possibly make a messy shipment if the boxed was tipped upside down). I have attached pictures of the reservoir that also shows the electrodes being clean and intact. I think the smoker will work just fine).
