A good-quality copy that would rate higher were it not for a wrinkled spot at the top of the back cover (visible in photos). Also has a small "12" store mark in UPC box. Someone also noted the month of purchase at the top of the splash page. But structurally sound with near-white pages.72VF1.9501/70 - REPRINT (actually Marvel Super Action #33 - July, 1981) by Roy Thomas/Sal Buscema, 1st app of Zodiac team (and just about all the members making their first appearances as well), Captain Marvel app -- "Did You Hear the One About Scorpio?" -- affordable way to pick up reading copy of Avengers 72. A solid NEWSSTAND VARIANT copy that still looks shiny and shows the light-to-moderate wear from having been read once or twice before.127FN+11.0009/74 - by Steve Englehart/Sal Buscema, MVS intact, 1st app Ultron-7; Inhumans app, Continues in Fantastic Four #150 (wedding of Crystal and Quicksilver); contains letter from Ralph Macchio - "Bride and Doom!" Book still remains bright and shiny; has only minor reading wear; back cover has a bit more wear that prevented this from being VF-; pages all in great shape and off-white. Nice upper-mid-grade copy.131VF19.5001/75 - by Steve Englehart/Sal Buscema, vs Kang, MVS intact, 1st app The Legion of the Unliving - "A Quiet Half-Hour in Saigon!" Wow, does this one ever look great. Clearly been read before with some light spine ticks, and the back shows slight wear as well (see tiny 1/4" tear right on top edge), but front is bright, smooth and clean with amazing shine. Book just has that almost new appearance, and pages are just a shade below white, so we'll say off-white. Wonderful copy!132VF/NM22.0002/75 - by Steve Englehart, Roy Thomas/Sal Buscema, vs Kang, MVS intact, 2nd app The Legion of the Unliving; vs Kang; contains letter from Mary Jo Duffy - "Kang War II" Book seems to have been lightly read through once and then immediately stored away. This one isn't exactly pristine, but dang, it's a wonderful copy and in fabulous shape for a book 45 years old!133VF12.5003/75 - by Steve Englehart/Sal Buscema, 1st app Cotati; Origin of the original Human Torch and partial origin of the Vision; Origin of Kree-Skrull War - "Yesterday and Beyond" A still very bright and shiny copy with only minor wear from a previous reading but remains quite clean with near-white pages. A very nice, even if not perfect copy.134POOR1.2504/75 - by Steve Englehart/Sal Buscema, Origin of the Vision and original Human Torch (Jim Hammond/Android); Origin of Mantis; Origin of Priests of Pama - "The Times That Bind!" A coverless copy of this key issue, though inner pages all appear to be there and in decent shape.140VF-9.0010/75 - by Steve Englehart/George Tuska - "A Journey to the Center of the Ant" A bright and shiny copy that has certainly been read before with some spine ticks, but with clean overall appearance and still near-white pages. In great shape, but short of full VF I think.141FN14.0011/75 - by Steve Englehart/George Perez, first Avengers work by George Perez, vs Squadron Supreme, 1st app Golden Archer II (Wyatt McDonald) - "The Phantom Empire!" The epidomy of an average-looking book, with moderate overall wear, some surface build-up on back. Pages however, are still near-white.148FN+6.9506/76 - George Perez art, Squadron Sinister (Supreme) app, Hellcat app (Patsy Walker), also includes letters from future comic book writers and editors Jo Duffy and Peter Sanderson - "20,000 Leagues Under Justice!" A nicer mid-grade copy with only moderate wear and near-white pages.152VF/NM10.0010/76 - by Gerry Conway, Steve Englehart/John Buscema with Jack Kirby cover, 1st app Black Talon II - "Nightmare in New Orleans!" Perhaps read once, it's a fabulous and shiny copy with near-white pages. Clearly a higher-end copy, even if not absolutely perfect.153VF-5.5011/76 - by Gerry Conway/John Buscema, with Jack Kirby cover art, vs Living Laser, Wonder Man app, Whizzer app - "Home is the Hero!" Nice nice copy that's flat, still shiny and almost as smooth as glass. Tiny bit of edge wear on front right. Spine shows only a few light ticks that are easy to spot in the close-up, in-your-face side photos I provided. Back has some of light build-up from being handled before. Pages are off-white and look great. It's not a perfect copy or anything, and it's clear that someone once read and handled it, but at least they took great care to keep it in nice shape! I went just a hair under VF due to the minor right edge wear that just broke the color. Plenty of photos, so take a good look!154VF8.2512/76 - by Gerry Conway/George Perez, vs Attuma, first appearance of Tyrak the Terrible - "When Strikes Attuma?" A very nice copy that's flat, still shiny and almost as smooth as glass. Hardly any edge wear to speak of, and spine shows only a few light ticks that are easy to spot in the close-up, in-your-face side photos I provided. Back has just a touch of light build-up from being handled before. Pages are off-white and look great. It's not a perfect copy or anything, and it's clear that someone once read it, but at least they took great care to keep it in nice shape! Plenty of photos, so take a good look!154halfFN/VF10.0012/76 - by Bill Mantlo/Jim Shooter/S. Trapani - Super-Villain Team-Up #9 -- continued from Avengers 154 and into 155, vs Dr. Doom, Sub-Mariner and Attuma, Namorita and Tamara app - "Pawns of Attuma" This book is easy to overlook when you're completing your Avengers run because it is continued directly from issue 154 and picks up again in 155, so I've included it here as issue "154 and a half" because you don't want to miss filling in this hole. As for the book itself, it's clearly been read a couple of times but remains flat, shiny and smooth, with only light wear on spine, right about where you'd expect it was probably held open to read. Back cover has light build-up. Pages are off-white and all look good. A solid upper-mid-grade copy. Plenty of photos, so take a close look!155VF-7.9501/77 - by Gerry Conway/George Perez (with that fabulous cover by Jack Kirby), vs Dr. Doom and (unwittingly) the Sub-Mariner - "To Stand Alone" Definitely an upper-mid-grade copy that teeters on the brink of VF with a flat, shiny surface that's almost as smooth as glass and has hardly any edge wear. Back has just a touch of light build-up. Upper spine corner blunted too much to quite make it to VF. Pages not quite white. It's a close call and may still be VF, but I'm marking it just below that. Plenty of photos, so take a close look!156VF10.0002/77 - by Gerry Conway/Jim Shooter/Sal Buscema, with Jack Kirby cover art, vs Dr. Doom, vs Tyrack the Terrible, Sub-Mariner, Namorita, Tamara, Attuma app - "The Private War of Dr. Doom!" (And I love it when the Beast confronts Doom at the end, asking him if that was him he saw on the late show last night! Still laugh every time I read that, heh!) A beautiful 45 year-old copy that has the shine still of one just published last week. Flat and smooth as a new copy, only the little bit of wear at the lower staple keeps this one below NM -- that and a light touch of build-up on the otherwise near-white back cover. Pages are still near-white as well! Have a look at the close-up, in-your-face side photos! Check it out from all angles in the many photos I provided. It's not a pristine copy or anything, but holy cow -- what a great one nonetheless!157VF/NM14.9503/77 - by Gerry Conway/Don Heck, with Jack Kirby cover art, vs Black Knight statue - "A Ghost of Stone" Wow, what a fantastic copy and hard to believe it's 45 years old! Flat, clean, shiny, and almost as smooth as glass, this baby was well preserved, and only a tiny bit of edge wear at the bottom (see photo) and a couple of little spine ticks keep this one below full NM. Back is still near-white, as are the inner covers, pages are off-white and look great. Have a look at the close-up, in-your-face side photos! Check it out from all angles in the many photos I provided. Hey, I know it's not absolutely perfect, but dang...!159FN+6.5005/77 - by Jim Shooter/Sal Buscema, vs Graviton (2nd appearance, continued from previous issue) - "Siege By Stealth And Storm!" This copy looks wonderful from the front, bright, still shiny and surprisingly smooth and looks clean when held up to the light. A closer look shows a rougher spot near Iron Man's head, and spine shows some wear however that drop this closer to mid-grade (see close-up, in-your-face side photos I provided -- loads of photos by the way). Back shows some light build-up. Pages off-white. Bottom line is a book that's been read but still solid and collectible. Plenty of photos, so take a good look! Sal Buscema is just awesome here as well, which is itself worth the price of admission!160FN/VF6.9506/77 - by Jim Shooter/George Perez, vs Grim Reaper, Black Panther app - "...The Trial!" A lightly read copy that left behind little traces at a corner here, a few spine ticks there, and a touch of surface build-up on back, but boy is it ever still bright and shiny, lies flat and is about as smooth as a new copy -- no wrinkles, despite having been handled. Pages are off-white and look great. An upper-mid-grade copy that's solid and looks great as a display! Plenty of photos, so take a good look!161VF10.0007/77 - Jim Shooter and George Perez art (at his rubble-flying best!), vs Ant Man and Ultron - "Beware the Ant-Man!" (Contains one of the Scarlet Witch's most iconic poses of all time -- see inner photo!) Easily a higher-grade copy that looks close to brand new from the front -- flat, smooth and shiny as ever! Back shows some fading and light wear; you can tell it was handled a bit, especially held at spine, leaving behind the little ticks that cause this to drop below NM down into the next category. Pages are off-white and look great. It's not a perfect copy by any stretch, but very solid one and both sides are very smooth -- it was obviously handled with care and didn't leave wrinkles.162FN+12.5008/77 - by Jim Shooter/George Perez, vs Ultron, first appearance of Jocasta -- "The Bride of Ultron" Side Note: This was the first-ever issue of the Avengers that I read as a 15 year-old and immediately caused me to fall in love w/ comics! What a run Jim Shooter had on this title in the mid-70s. If you've never read those issues, pay the money and check them out! (And you better believe I'm holding onto my original copy as well!) Obviously has been read before with moderate wear, but remains flat, still with some shine and actually very smooth to boot. Pages off-white and look good. Back shows enough fading w/ a touch of surface build-up to prevent this solid copy from grading as high as the FN/VF it might have been, but it is a solid copy nonetheless.163FN/VF5.9509/77 - by Jim Shooter/George Tuska - guest-starring Hercules and the Champions, vs Typhon, "The Demi-God Must Die!" A previously-read copy that shows some moderate wear (plenty of photos to eyeball), a bit of fading in back, and off-white pages. Still shiny and quite smooth, it's a solid, if not spectacular upper-mid-grade copy.165FN6.9511/77 - John Byrne art, vs Count Nefaria, 1st app Henry Peter Gyrich - "Hammer of Vengeance!" Obviously a copy that's been read before, but the look of the front is still flat and smooth with only minor to moderate wear. Pages are off-white and in good shape. Back is where it's clear someone left this one lying around, as you can see the surface build-up all over it, but even so, is still mostly smooth, though not like the front. A solid if not spectacular copy that displays well. Part of my favorite Avengers story of all time containing one of the most iconic panels ever (see photo) - if anyone knows where the original art for this page is, I'm interested in buying it!176FN+5.5010/78 - Dave Wenzel art - part of Korvac saga, Guardians of the Galaxy app, Black Panther app, Black Widow app, Captain Marvel app - "The Destiny Hunt!" Has been read before, that much is clear, but show only some light wear. I see a little dimple on cover at the bottom of the "A" in Avengers as well. Easily mid-grade, perhaps a mite better.183VF/NM7.2505/79 - John Byrne art, vs Absorbing Man A new-looking copy that might have been gently read before.185VF9.7507/79 - by Mark Gruenwald, Steven Grant, David Michelinie/John Byrne, 1st app Chthon (in human body); Origin of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch - WandaVision tie-in!- "The Yesterday Quest!" Been read before with only minor handling wear -- still in good shape.192FN3.7502/80 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by David Michelinie/Arvell Jones, 1st app Inferno; vs Inferno - "Steel City Nightmare!" Looks VF at first glance even though read before, but a couple of rougher edges keep this one in mid-grade range. Pages look good.194VF-3.5004/80 - by David Michelinie/George Perez, Wonder Man joins team; Falcon resigns from team - "Interlude" Book seems to have only been lightly handled and has some moderate wear, still shiny and with nice pages. Has faint impression of number "75" in the top-right corner, from a price written over its original bag (too faint to make out in the photos). A pre-owned copy to be sure, but kept in pretty good shape.198FN2.7508/80 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by David Michelinie/George Perez, Red Ronin misspelled on cover (Red Ronan) - "Better Red than Ronin!" Clearly been handled and read before with moderate wear, while still mostly flat, has a shine and off-white pages. But a little stress line here, a non-color-breaking bend in lower-right corner (visible in photo), some general build-up, etc. keep this one an unspectacular middle-of-the-road copy.202FN/VF5.9512/80 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by David Michelinie/George Perez, vs Ultron - "This Evil Undying" A book that looks like it has been lightly read, but left the surface almost entirely smooth. Still flat and shiny, this has virtually no wrinkles at all and pages that are still near-white. A few very tiny spine ticks, a hint of a fold in the lower-right corner and a small blemish on the surface of the back upper-right just below and to the right of the red "EXPERT BUILER SERIES" (you can just see it in the photo) block this one from rating full VF, but it is a rock solid upper-mid-grade copy nonetheless. Plenty of pictures, so take a good look!205FN2.5003/81 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by David Michelinie/Bob Budiansky/Alan Kupperberg, vs Yellow Claw - "Shadow Of The Claw!" Still shiny and mostly flat with some light to moderate wear and good pages. Has definite handling wear. A no-frills copy that's been read before but remains solid. Has a visible non-color-breaking fold down the center of the cover (just visible) that caused me to just lower it to straight mid-grade even though it certainly looks a little nicer overall.207FN-1.9505/81 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by Bob Budiansky/Danny Fingeroth/Gene Colan - "Beyond A Shadow" Clearly been read before with moderate wear. Still shiny and has good pages and would rate above FN were it not for the little tear near the lower spine on back cover (see rear photo) -- a solid, but certainly not spectacular copy.208VF/NM3.9506/81 - by Bob Budiansky/Danny Fingeroth/Gene Colan, vs Berserker - "Eve Of Destruction!" Still shiny and mostly smooth, a nicely preserved copy that may have been paged through before. Has faint impression of the number "60" in the top-right cover, from a price written over its original bag.209FN2.9507/81 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by J.M. DeMatteis/Alan Kupperberg - "The Resurrection Stone" Looks like it's been read before with some moderate overall wear and good pages and might grade closer to FN/VF were it not for the large non-color-breaking fold that runs down the middle (easily visible in photos). A solid, but certainly not spectacular copy.215NM---01/82 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by Jim Shooter/Alan Weiss, vs Molecule Man, Silver Surfer app - "All the Ways of Power!" Still looks as shiny and smooth as a brand new copy with off-white pages. Only a spine dimple above the upper staple and a couple of other hints of handling wear block this from being NM.216FN+--02/82 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT, vs Molecule Man, Tigra, Silver Surfer app, Fantastic Four app, first time Captain America learns true identities of Iron Man and Thor - "To Avenge the Avengers!" The little missing fleck missing from that one spot on upper edge notwithstanding, this copy otherwise looks flat, still shiny and smooth with almost no spine wear, a mostly clean back and off-white pages, but I had to demote it at least a grade due to that one little spot.218NM4.9504/82 - UNOPENED - by J.M. DeMatteis/Jim Shooter/Don Perlin, Forever Man - "Born Again (And Again And Again)" Pretty much looks like it may have just come home from the comic store, virtually brand new.225NM-5.2511/82 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - by Steven Grant/Greg Larocque, Black Knight cover/returns, part 1, 1st app Balor - "The Fall Of Avalon" Looks almost new with barely any wear, flat, shiny and smooth with off-white pages. If it was ever read before, I can't tell. Fabulous looking newsstand copy, even if not entirely pristine.229FN-1.9503/83 - NEWSSTAND VARIANT - (Tatooz card insert removed) - by Roger Stern/Al Milgrom, vs Egghead, She-Hulk, Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau) - "Final Curtain!" Clearly been handled and/or read before, and the original owner pulled out the Tatooz insert, causing the cover to become detached from the book. Only light wear otherwise.245NM-2.9507/84 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/Al Milgrom, vs Dire Wraiths - "Bombshells!" Pretty much looks brand new, like it might have just been purchased yesterday. Has slight bend in upper-left corner of back (visible in photo), which seems to be the only thing preventing full NM.260NM4.2510/85 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/John Buscema, Nebula app, Secret Wars II - "Assault On Sanctuary II"261NM-2.9511/85 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/John Buscema, Secret Wars II, Beyonder app - "Earth And Beyond!" Couple of spine dimples keep this from NM.262NM3.7512/85 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/John Buscema, Hercules vs Sub-Mariner - "Many Brave Hearts!"265NM2.9503/86 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/John Buscema, Secret Wars II tie-in, Beyonder app - "Eve Of Destruction" You'd never believe this was 25 years old -- looks like it might have just been published.266NM3.5004/86 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern, Jim Shooter/John Buscema, Secret Wars II Epilogue - "And The War's Desolation!" You'd never believe this was 25 years old -- looks like it might have just been published.270NM2.5008/86 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/John Buscema, vs Moonstone - "Wild In The Streets!" Wow, looks like it was just bought. You'd never guess this was 25 years old.271NM2.5009/86 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/John Buscema, vs Grey Gargoyle, Yellowjacket II, Scraming Mimi - "Breakaway!" Pretty much looks like you might have just bought it. You'd never guess this was 25 years old.272NM2.5010/86 - UNOPENED - by Roger Stern/John Buscema, vs Attuma, Alpha Flight app - "Assault on Atlantis"332-343NM Avengers 332-343 lot of 12 Consecutive Issues / 1991-1992 / NM UNOPENED COPIESGS 1POOR0.9908/74 - (INCOMPLETE) - by Roy Thomas, Stan Lee, Larry Lieber/Rich Buckler, 1st app Nuklo and Whizzer I (Robert Frank); Death of Miss America; Origin of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver; New material and reprints from Human Torch Comics #33 and Tales to Astonish #58 - "Nuklo - The Invader That Time Forgot!; Human Torch: The Ray of Madness!; Wasp: The Magician and The Maiden!" -- obviously a poor, coverless copy, and I don't really need to say more than that, but the Giant-Size Avengers were unlike the others in that they wound the story continuity from the regular magazine through these, so many people forget to fill in some of that. Even a coverless copy can help there. That being said, this copy is INCOMPLETE. It contains the entire main Avengers story, but the Wasp story at the end is missing the last 3 pages.GS 1POOR0.9908/74 - (INCOMPLETE) - by Roy Thomas, Stan Lee, Larry Lieber/Rich Buckler, 1st app Nuklo and Whizzer I (Robert Frank); Death of Miss America; Origin of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver; New material and reprints from Human Torch Comics #33 and Tales to Astonish #58 - "Nuklo - The Invader That Time Forgot!; Human Torch: The Ray of Madness!; Wasp: The Magician and The Maiden!"
