Description: Nice Stone Square Stem point that measures 3 3/8" long by 1 1/4" wide. Stone Square Stem points are from the Middle Archaic period dating in the 6,000 to 4,000 BP range. These are found in association and thought to be related to Smith points. Made out high quality white Burlington chert. Found in Missouri, Webster / Cedar counties. Good form on this piece, blade made with a twist to it, nice tip. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. These points are from an old time father / son Missouri collection - all found by Mr. Roland Shumate (1914 - 2002) and his dad Peter, who started the collection. The Shumate's collected from about 1915 to 1957 and were from Springfield, in Greene County, Missouri. A family collection that was collected over many generations. They hunted in their own county of Greene, but mainly hunted in Cedar and Webster Counties, Missouri. The collection was put into storage in the 1960's. When Mr. Roland Shumate was in his 80's, the entire family collection was sold to Roy Hathcock of West Plains, Missouri (author of Indian Pottery books and a well known collector) in the mid 1990's. Mr. Hathcock turned over most of the collection to C.J. O'Neill of Charlotte, North Carolina (now in Monroe) at the 1996 Owensboro Kentucky Artifact show that August. I was able to buy a couple hundred pieces from Mr. O'Neill over the years in late 1996 through 1999. These have never been on the market since I purchased them over 25 years ago. There are NO FAKE G-10 relics here. Just AUTHENTIC points from a well documentated, old time, original collection. All relics are 100% guaranteed Prehistoric Authentic unless stated otherwise.
