All of the specimens in this collection were obtained when Oliver worked for the Army Corp of Engineers in the early 1940s through the early 1950s in southern Missouri and Arkansas. His job was to survey the land via grid format to relocategraves before dams, including the Bull Shoal and Norfork, were constructed. The land was eventually flooded and is still under water to this day. These relics would have been lost forever if it was not for Oliver's dedication to preserve these archeological treasures. This specimen is connected to two historical significant events, both being culturally significant to the Ozark region of the United States.
