GERMAN AUSTRIA POST CARD FROM KLAGENFURT 1938 SPECIAL CANCEL The post card from Klagenfurt to Komotau franked with German and Austrian pre-occupation stamps permitted for use for a short period after the occupation by German authorities and cancelled with the special Klagenfurt post office cancels on July 24, 1938, issued to commemorate the "The Heroes of the July 1934" – when on July 25, 1934, 150 Austrian pro-Germans dressed as Austrian soldiers and police officers overwhelmed the unarmed guards at the Chancellery building in Vienna and seized it as part of a German-backed plot to install a pro-German government in Austria. Their goal was to capture all of the ministers and force them to appoint their designated person as the head of a new German-friendly government. In the action at the chancellery, Engelbert Dollfuss (the Austrian Chancellor) was shot twice and soon died. Genuine. The auction is for the item above only.
