Atlas Milling Machine Headstock Isolator / Column Compartment Divider

Description: New Iron Machine and Design is proud to offer you this new part for the family of Atlas Horizontal Milling Machine: The Atlas Milling Machine Headstock Isolator. This is a product designed and created out of frustration from dropping the spindle and backgear shaft oil set screws down into the internal hollow of the column body - and the resulting struggle to find them and extract them as a result- only to hope not to drop them again and repeat the process. This part drops right into your assembled machine's headstock (without any disassembly of the machine required) and rests on a machined surface already present on the top of the column where the headstock and column are joined. No alteration to your machine is required, and installation takes less than a minute. This new part creates a "catch" that seals off or isolates the hollow column casting void from the headstock compartment. Any items dropped inside the headstock compartment, such as the oil set screws, or any of the back-gear assembly components during installation, stay inside the headstock compartment where they are easily retrieved. Most of us have the "later" models of the Atlas Milling Machine with the M1-2A headstock casting. If you have an "earlier" model with the M1-2 casting, please message when you purchase so that I can send you an Isolator that fits your machine. Otherwise the much more common M1-2A isolator will be sent. Do you need this part for operation? No, you don't. But if you want to spend more time operating you machine making parts instead of spending your time tearing you machine apart looking for dropped screws, than this part is for you.
