Description: Vintage Arcading The Legend… For your consideration is an excellently functioning Atari CX2600 Sears Tele-games Video Arcade "Heavy Sixer" console. Produced from late 1977 to mid 1978, the 'heavy' nickname stems from the nearly half inch thick plastic bottom that doubled as an RF shield and gave these early versions impeccable reception (and an extra pound of weight!) Everything about the first year models was quality, and it is very noticeable. From the robust ruggedness to the smooth action of the switches themselves, it's no wonder these models are highly sought after by retro gaming collectors. This auction is for the console only, and it is tested, with everything functioning as it should. Color, sound and RF signal have been calibrated. Stackpole switches with unrivaled switch action that is smooth and impeccable, picture and sound quality are unbelievable. Original RF cord has a small abrasion on the insulation, covered with electrical tape as seen in photo. The faux woodgrain is nearly flawless, the serial number sticker is intact and very nice. These units are getting difficult to find in this original and amazing condition. Made in the U.S.A. The following has been performed on this unit...· Thorough cleaning inside and out of console. Cartridge slot contacts cleaned.· Reflowed cold solder joints, particularly on the high stress area joystick ports.· Cleaned all switch contacts and relubricated switches in console. Switch posts polished.· Calibration of color, sound and RF signal in console. About testing...I test each console on three different televisions of varying ages and manufacturers that I own to ensure the best picture quality and functionality. Picture quality will vary with television and setup. About myself…I have experience in electronics repair, at one time troubleshooting and repairing studio deck and camera equipment for television stations from around the country in the early 2000’s before everything went digital. I take pleasure and enjoyment working on these Atari’s, and each bundle or console that I list has many man hours involved to make sure that it will last a long time.
