The air force played a crucial role in the war, providing close air support to ground troops, conducting reconnaissance and interdiction operations against North Vietnamese forces, and defending South Vietnamese airspace.The air force was heavily reliant on the United States for training, equipment, and supplies, and U.S. advisors played a significant role in its operations.
