Description: Antique WW1 British Army Silver Plate Fiddle Back Serving Spoon KOSB 5484 DetailsLength : 21.5cmBowl length : 8cmBowl width : 4.8cmWeight : 79gm This large antique silver plate serving spoon is in very good condition. There are no dings or twists to the metal, nor is it worn. There are some marks to the rear of the fiddleback caused by the stamping of the lettersand numbers. It is stamped KOSB 5484. While I could be completelywrong, I believe KOSB refers to the British Regiment King's OwnScottish Borderers, while 5484 refers to the service number of a soldierin the regiment. The initials of that person 'WD' are stamped on the backof the handle along with an arrow head. I also believe the service numberdates from World War 1. The makers' details, 'J. Yates and Sons Birmingham,' stamped on the back of the handle refer to John Yates andSons. This company from Pritchard Street Birmingham made spoonsamong other things from 1850 until the early 1900's, so this would tie inwith the date of the service record. It would be nice to know who theowner was and if he indeed served and survived World War 1. ***Please check out my other silver plate collectables*** Postage: your item(s) will be sent within two business days.
