Description: ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡Here is an antique Victorian tintype of a young woman wearing a sack coat and wide hoop skirt with her dark hair pulled back and a feather toque atop her head, a style of dress that dates this to circa 1863.Curiously, she appears to be wearing only one glove. Why this would be I haven't found any concrete evidence but I did find several other examples of Victorian one glove photos and some paintings too. Although she is not dressed in all black as one might expect, I believe her single glove is a sign of mourning. She is also wearing black jewelry including a jet necklace and cross pendant, long black earrings, and hair ornaments with large jet balls. I wish I could see details on the tiny pin she is also wearing, but that will have to be a mystery for someone else to decode. I believe the tintype originally came from the Troy, NY area.It is a true antique, not a copy or reprint, and it's in good condition for its age with some crinkles and bends on the tin and scratch marks on the surface. The pictures say it best, so please click on them for a closer look, and if you have any questions, I'm always happy to help. It ships via USPS and will be wrapped with care and mailed within one business day ♡
