Description: This listing is for an Antique Victorian Portrait Hand Painted On Glass Velvet Matte FRAMED Rare Read. It depicts a young person, I believe a young man or boy, Hand Painted on a miniature Porcelain plate or plaque. It is extremely well painted, especially the hair and light tints of color to the face. They are dressed in the height of fashion for the time, with luxurious clothes, powdered face, and long well kept hair. It gives this figure an almost angelic appearance! It is not signed by the artist. I believe it is a victorian era piece, from around the 1840s-1880s- possibly earlier or a little later. It is of excellent quality, as you can see from the photos. It is a great collectors item, gift, display / decor item, and more! It is in good condition. The frame has some damage from age, as it is of plaster or gouache construction, this is an unfortunately common occurrence. The portrait itself and the velvet matte and in great shape. It is painted on some kind of early milk glass I believe, in oil paint. It has some antique breakage of corner areas- see photos- which is concealed when in the frame.
