Description: A wonderful Victorian theatre playbill that will be of interest to a range of collectors. The playbill advertises a two night run of a series of comedy productions performed by amateurs including a number of military officers based at the Depot Battalion near Deal in Kent. The event was held, in part, to raise funds for local (unspecified) charities. Kent history researchers will be interested in the local aspects. Military collectors will be interested in the links to various regiments.Theatre buffs will enjoy the novelty value of a playbill printed on silk, and also the nature of the period comedy and farce being performed. The playbill itself measures approximately 27cms x 19cms - it's generally in very good condition - some creasing particularly across the centre - the professional framing of the item has preserved it well. Some minor knocks to the wooden frame. Frame size approximately 50cms x 41cms - glazed.Altogether, a very interesting item that deserves further research. Please see photos and message me with any questions. Collection in person from near Stroud, Gloucestershire is an option for buyers. Thanks.
